The following policy provides some essential rules for healthy discussion, but ultimately the power of words is in your hands. Seek to understand those who disagree. The goal is not to win; we should all instead seek to come away from a discussion having learned something more. That is how we will get closer to the truth. - No foul language.
- No derogatory or inflammatory comments. “Be civil to others and do not indulge in personal attacks. As your mother taught you, if you can’t say something nice, then don’t say anything. If you need to vent, go elsewhere.” (Source)
- No spam.
- No anonymous comments or bots. “The commenter must be willing to be associated with their own comments.” (Source) This includes fake emails.
- No off-topic rants. All comments must pertain to article in question.
- No blog posts parading as comments.
- No imbedded links to another website. Unless it pertains to giving the source of an argument or claim.
- No anchor text or keywords in commenter’s name.
- No sales pitch.
- No affiliates.
